Job Summary:

Center For Self Advocacy is looking for peer mentors for our travel training program called Access My Ride. You will be teaching students how to plan a trip, use public transportation, and advocate for themselves. You will work with office staff to facilitate training sessions, complete necessary paperwork, and take part in community outreach events. Those with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate virtual and in-person classroom and workshop training sessions.
  • Provide written documentation on all training sessions in a timely manner.
  • Complete all necessary applications, intakes reports and case notes in a timely manner.
  • Schedule workshops and training sessions.
  • Facilitate one-on-one classes both on site and off site.
  • Help promote Let’s Connect and other CSA programs.
  • Attend meetings and community events as requested.
  • Ensure confidential information remains confidential.
  • Comply with all agency policies and procedures.
  • Work with coworkers in furthering the success of CSA’s programs.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Reliable transportation – Program Assistants meet with students both at the CSA office
    and out in public.
  • Experience with using Metro Bus and / or Paratransit.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Able to record and submit notes in a timely manner.
  • Able to work in an office setting.
  • Able to work in a team environment.
  • Able to use various electronic devices including cellphones, tablets, computers, etc.

Bonus:

  • Understands and has knowledge of care coordination and support systems.
  • Has a physical or developmental disability.
